In partnership with Ealing Council and ActForEaling, we are proud to once again host the Ealing Biodiversity Awards for Gardens & Green Spaces. The awards recognise residents and groups who are helping to support wildlife by creating greener, more biodiverse outdoor spaces across the borough.
Entry is free and open to all Ealing residents, from experienced gardeners to complete beginners, with cash prizes to be won!
We welcome entries from front gardens, balconies and micro-spaces, as well as schools, allotments and community areas.
Judges will assess how well each green space encourages biodiversity, looking for features such as native plants, wildflowers, trees, ponds and other natural elements that provide food and shelter for wildlife. Even small additions like pots, bug hotels and bird baths can make a real difference.
Front gardens, terraces, micro gardens and balconies
Closing Date 3 July 2026
Open to any private Front Garden within Ealing Borough or any outdoor private small growing space using containers to grow plants where the judges will be looking for clever uses of space and creativity in how different features are incorporated.
Community spaces and Streets
Closing date 3 July 2026
For groups of local volunteers who have worked together in a community garden or in neighbouring front gardens, visible from the street. The judges will want to learn how the growing created a sense of community and what wider benefits have arisen. Prizes will be awarded to the nominated representative of the group.
